He worked for 35 years as a surveyor for the Department of Transportation until his retirement in 2006. During his career he was awarded with the « NBDOT Safe Supervisor Award » in recognition of supervising an injury free crew.

Paul enjoyed music, photography, and drafting by hand and with CAD. He had great computer skills but using an answering machine went against his nature.
