Ike joined the Royal Canadian Air Force in 1943 and soon received his air gunner's wings. In 1944 he trained overseas in Yorkshire, England and became a member of the No. 6 Canadian Bomber Group 415 Squadron. He served as a flight sergeant on a Ha
