He entered the U. S. Army in 1944 serving at Panama Canal.

He was honorably discharged in 1946.

He then settled in Lee and later moved to Lincoln where he continued his long and successful career in logging and trucking.

His wife currently resides in Hampden, where Hampy spent the last few months of his life being cared after by his family.

He was a Charter Member of Knights of Columbus in Lincoln and a member or the American Legion.
