Upon graduation from high school, Bob and two friends travelled by train to Saint John and joined the Royal Canadian Navy. Bob served 5 years as a radio operator on board Her Majesty’s Ships including the aircraft carrier HMCS Bonaventure.

Following his honourable discharge in 1955, Bob trained in carpentry and construction, and applied his trade in the industry for a few years before returning to the Tobique River Valley.

There, he met his future bride in Judith Hall and they were married in 1962.

Bob was a lifelong parishioner of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church.

He was employed with Fraser’s lumber mill operations in Plaster Rock where he worked for 33 years until his retirement.
