He was a well-known craftsman of wrought iron. He received much acclaim for design and workmanship throughout Canada. Mr. Upon leaving Saint John in 1968, he operated the Old Lantern Gift Shop at Penobsquis. An avid sportsman, he was an honorary member of the New Brunswick Rifle Association, the New Brunswick Handicraft Guild, the Royal Canadian Legion, Sussex Branch and from 1937 to 1940, the Saint John Fusiliers Club. Mr. Sonier was a veteran of the First World War and served overseas with the Canadian Army. During the Second World War, he served with the Royal Canadian Air Force in Quebec. |
