Galen graduated in 1965 from Limestone High School.

He served in United States Army for three years as an electronic technician stationed in Germany.

After the service, he worked with his father in roofing and siding for several years. He also worked for a time as a Limestone Police Officer, then for Potato Service and Taterstate, both potato processing plants, in their freezers controlling the

ir computers.
