He was a retired fisherman and truck driver.

Patrick was a veteran of the second World War, and was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch No. 155, Wedgeport.

He served as Second Vice President.

He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus, Council 6505 Wedgeport, and a member of the Msgr. W. E. Young Fourth Degree Assembly, Yarmouth.

Patrick was also a member of Le Club des Acadiens de Wedgeport, where he was past president, as well as being a member of the Quinan Seniors Club and the Senior's Kickin' Country line dancing group.
