At age 15, Raymond started working at The Hotel Dieu Hospital in Campbellton, NB where he worked for three years in laundry, kitchen and then as an orderly. In 1967, he came to Lanigan, SK to sink the shaft at Alwinsal Potash. On December 31

, at a New Year’s Eve dance, Raymond met Ruth Lachmuth and they were married on August 4, 1969 at St. Anne’s Church in Annaheim, SK.

On November 13, 2000, after 30 years of employment at P.C.S. Lanigan, Raymond retired. In April of 2004, Raymond and Ruth moved to Charlo.

In May of 2006, they returned to the prairies, to Humboldt.
