Note Elle a obtenu son diplôme de l'école secondaire de Moncton (1951) et a ensuite fréquenté l'Université Mount Allison à Sackville.
L'économie domestique était son domaine d'études choisi, mais lorsqu'une opportunité s'est présentée de poursuivre une formation pour devenir infirmière autorisée, Bert a découvert sa passion.
En 1954, elle obtient son diplôme de l'École de sciences infirmières de l'Hôpital de Moncton. "Infirmière un jour, infirmière toujours", proclamerait-elle avec plaisir tout au long de sa vie.

She was a graduate of Moncton High School (1951) and then graced the halls of Mount Allison University in Sackville.
Home Economics was her chosen field of study but when an opportunity presented to pursue training to become a registered nurse Bert found her passion.
In 1954 she graduated from Moncton Hospital's School of Nursing. "Once a nurse, always a nurse," she would happily announce throughout her life.
